Since the introduction of Cooperative Learning theory into China, it has been widely used in oral English teaching because it can improve the communicating atmosphere of classroom. However, there are still some problems in practice, especially the lack of empirical study on individual differences.Learning style,"an individual's natural, habitual, and preferred way of absorbing, processing, and retaining new information and skills", is one of the most important elements of individual differences. It plays a direct and persistent role in learning process. An all-round understanding of learners'learning styles and a scientific collocation of group members based on it is a key to an efficient group division and task designing.By means of experimental study, taking learning style as a basis, together with each learner's linguistic competence before the experiment as a reference, the research is to conduct an experiment of heterogeneous group division and individual task distribution based on learning styles, aiming at an effective way of oral cooperative learning. From both quantitative result and qualitative analysis, it is concluded that through a heterogeneous group division and individual task distribution experiment based on learning styles, the oral fluency and accuracy of the two experimental groups have made greater improvement as compared with the two control groups; there are more positive interdependence and learning style supplement in the heterogeneous experimental groups than those of the control groups; in oral cooperative learning, tasks designed according to each learner's learning style can promote an effective role distribution, which enables each member of the group to give a full expression to their thoughts and improves each one's oral ability ultimately.
