From 8 to 24 of August in 2008, The 29th Summer Olympic Games was Successfully held in Beijing. The Olympic Games was not only a sporting event of people around the world but also a display of cultural event from various media and of the Games. As to Olympic-related information, each media carried out a great deal of unique coverage. During that period, in order to attract the attention of readers, each media did a lot of attempts for the news headlines,so we could see various forms of title in the newspaper. This phenomenon made readers appreciate a lot of exciting sports news,in the same time,it made Sports News title become a topic of concern.As we all know that sports news headlines was called to "the eyes of news" and it had always been focus of the medias management. Mr. Lu Xun Also called for:"If you want to briefly draw the characteristics of a person, it is the best to paint his eyes.""If you paint hair of a person, even if you depict carefully, it is also totally pointless. Therefore, during the Olympic Games, various sports news media pursue change in the title,even there were many titles which were different from Language norms. This paper attempts to explore foregrounding theory of Linguistics in several aspects. The full paper is divided into five parts:Chapter I is Overview. There are significance of topics, current situation of research, research ideas and methods as well as the source corpus.Chapter II is the foregrounding of the language symbols. Under the guidance of prospect theory this chapter analyse foregrounding phenomenon in four aspects which include voice, vocabulary, grammar and rhetoric in order to improve Sports News Writing.Chapter III is the foregrounding of the non-verbal symbols. This chapter analyse foregrounding phenomenon in font writing,punctuation marks, mathematical symbols and special symbols.Chapter IV is the reasons for foregrounding of Sports News titles.This chapter explains the reasons for the foregrounding of the Sports News titles from the context and cognition.Also it makes communicators and readers as the object of study.In conclusion, Learning from many research results of predecessors as the basis of the text,under the foregrounding theory,this paper analyse the characteristics of the Sports News titles with concrete examples. From a new perspective this paper expects to do a try on this issue and extremely desires modest contribution to sports news headlines.
