Procrastination is a prevalent and pernicious behavior of human that is not entirely understood.The present paper sought to trace the sourse of procrastination by locating it within personality and situational factors and outcomes.In study 1,262 undergraduates were asked to complete the General Procrastination Scale, Tuckman Procrastination Scale, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Revised Neuroticism Extraversion Openness Personality Inventory to check the relationship between Personality, Anxiety and Procrastination.In study 2,experimental method was applied to clarify two questions:1)Are people willing to self-impose costly deadlines to overcome procrastination,and is there any difference between High Procrastinators and Low Procrastanitors? 2)What the effect of self-imposed deadline in High Procrastinators and Low Procrastanitors?The analysis on the data obtained from these studys releals that:1) People who have high level of procrastination also have high level of Neuroticism and Anxiety,low level of Conscientiousness and Performance.2) People are willing to self-impose costly deadline to vercome procrastination,and High Procrastinators have stronger will to overcome procrastination than Low Procrastinators.3) For High Procrastinators,the deadlines were not set optimally,and the effect was not as good as out-imposed deadlines.for Low Procrastinators,the deadlines were set more optimally,and the effect was as good as out-imposed deadlines.
