Abstract/Summary:
The famous overseas scholars and Chinese scholars have not strictly differentiated the time between the dissemination of Manichaeism to Hui hu(Uighur) people and the declaration time of Manichaeism as the Hui hu's state religion . The large number of materials proved that Manichaeism had been disseminated to the central Asia in 3 century A.D. In Mobei region there were Sogdian people who believed in Manichaeism long before the Turk khanate . So it can be concluded that along with the business activities of Sogdian people , the Hui hu people had already come into contact with Manichaeism before the Turk Khanate . When it comes to 763A.D. , it's the time when Mouyu khan declared Manichaeism as the Huihu's state religion. The Uighur conversion to Manichaeism was a significant event in Uighur history and is solidly evidenced by the discovery of the Inscription of Karabalghasun , fragmentary Manichaeism texts found in the Turfan Oasis. The men of Sogdian says the New T'ang History,"have gone wherever profit is to be found". Sogdian people also carriers of arts and crafts and of new religions. Believing in Manichaeism can bring Huihu people the opportunity to be became rich by doing business with the help of Sogdian people who are also believers of Manichaeism. The Orkhon Uighur Khanate economy and trade depended on the Sogdian merchants because the Sogdians were the carriers along the ancient commercial routes. There had been already numerous Sogdian merchants living there and serving in the court of Orkhun Uighur Kaghans.
