A Study On The History Of Uighur From The 4^th To The 8^th Centuries

The reaserch about overall development history of the Uighur tribe are regarded can be divided into three important historical periods: the Uighur Tribal Period(before the establishment of the Uighur Khanate in AD744),the Uighur Khanate Period(AD744—AD840),and the Western Uighur Period(after AD840),the last stage is including the dispersed regimes of Xizhou Uighur,Ganzhou Uighur and Shazhou Uighur and so on.The research period of this paper is the prehistory of Uighur tribe before AD744,which is the time range from the 4th century to the 8th century defined in the subtitle.This paper is divided into three parts including“the period of Turkic Khanate’s rule”、“the Toγla River and Orqun River period”and“GAOCHE—YUANHE—WEIHE Period”accoring to the three inscriptions of Moyn-?or.As the closer to 744,the more abundant and detailed the historical materials are,the method of advancing the time line from the back to the front is adopted,and the reasons and arguments for dating are given at the beginning of each chapter.In each chapter,the situation of subtitles is used to put forward various questions and to study and answer them.The first chapter will study the confrontation between Turk and Uighur in Mongolian Plateau 、 the period and situation that Uighur was ruled by the second Turkic khanate and its migration in the Mongolian Plateau.Meanwhile,the collapse of the Turkic Khanate from AD741 to AD744 will be considered as historical backgroud,then the political situation of Mongolian Plateau and the Uighur’s the role under this circumstance will be investigated.In this part,a new interpretation and textual research of the Tariat Inscription will be given.The second chapter mainly investigates the development of Uighur tribe in this period,solves problems about the changing of the Uighur tribe’s ruling center and the inheritance issus of early Uighur tribe.The third chapter mainly focuses on the historical situation of Uighur tribe before it moved to Selenga River under the leadership of Irkin in AD605.Combining with Chinese historical materials and minority language documents,this paper try to summarizes the development history of these people and the geographical location of YUANHE-WEIHE-HUIHE tribe,determines that the ancestor of Western Gaoche state is not the same person as the Uighur tribe’s forebear.The fourth chapter is the summary of the full text,reorganizes the problems solved in the paper and gives the answers one by one,finally forms a complete system of the Uighur Khanate’s prehistory,and solves the problem of unclear history of Huihe tribe before AD744.
