Up to now, scholars have conducted research on C-E tourism translation in China from different perspectives like Functionalist Theory, Relevance Theory, and Adaption. Meanwhile, many of them have already written papers in this field by identifying the errors and problems and giving corrections. However, few of them ever tried to explain the root causes.As a matter of fact, most of the errors are made by the unprofessional translators. In order to reduce economic cost, many organizations employ unqualified translators who are not proficient English learners to translate tourism materials. Consequently, many errors arise in tourism translation. Thus, it's highly necessary to do research on the errors in tourism translation by analyzing a large amount of existing translation materials. Interlanguage Theory is right such a theory which can be applied to analyze the errors in tourism translation.As a branch of Applied Linguistics, Interlanguage Theory was proposed by Selinker in 1972. In his opinion, errors can not be avoided when learners are learning a foreign language. Interlanguage is the intermediate state between native language and target language. Knowledge starts from native language and moves to target language when learners are learning a foreign language. Based on Interlanguage Theory, the author makes a tentative study on the errors in tourism translation and their inner causes by consulting the former studies.According to contrastive analysis, the author classifies errors into three groups. By applying error analysis, the author separates errors into two aspects. On the basis of the analysis, the paper intends to explain the errors in tourism translation as well as their inner causes, and intends to give suggestions.
