The Study Of Bakhtin's Chronotope Theory

Mikhail Mikhailovich Bakhtin is a well-known Russian literary theorist. He has done a great contribution in the academic fields of structuralism, New Historicism, deconstruction and post-stucturalisim, semioloy.Chronotope theory is a important part of Bakhtin's Poetics.The dissertation, setting the develop of M·Bakhtin's literary theory as the background, starting from the angle of the systematic and overall studies, adopting the approaches of close-reading texts, hermeneutics and symptomatic and being based on the wide-reading of the first-hand English materials, gives a detailed expounding about M·Bakhtin' s theory of chronotope.The dissertation is divided into five chapters. Chapter One probes into Theoretical Origin of Bakhtin's chronotope theory. Chapter Two summarizes his Typology of novel. Chapter Three makes an analysis of the representational significance of the chronotope, considering that the representational significance of the chronotope is means structure a representation of events in the chronotope. Chapter Four expounds the chronotope of the author .Chapter five investigates the logical structure of Humanistic Thoughts in Bakhtin's chronotope theory.
