Ponders About The Chinese Sculptures'Nationalization

There have been eighty or ninth years of history of modern Chinese sculpture since the beginning of last century. When western sculpture was brought into China and became a mainstream here, the native/traditional Chinese sculpture has been somewhat broken off. In the duration of"Westernization", a great number of classical art works have been created, and talented sculptors have been raised in this land. At the age of creation, art types and forms are more specific, and new materials and skills are ever changing. Some art works give brand new looks; on the other hand, there is the conflict of creation and tradition. Many artists are walking back and forth between the complete westernization and modernization with Chinese characteristic; therefore, the following art works of those undecided minds would be indistinct or even worse. The deficiency/lack of traditional culture in the creation, somewhat affect the capability of communicating in the world.Based on the thorough understanding of the history of traditional sculpture, Chinese culture, and techniques, my paper is trying to discuss how to present the modern characteristics in the ways of subjects and expression of contemporary sculpture under current multicultural circumstance. I mainly focus on Chinese traditional sculptural art with help of the western sculptural methods, and eventually have my own style.The paper takes the traditional sculpture and the modern sculpture key, and divides the following several parts to carry on the analysis. The first part is summarizing and analyzing the special characteristics of traditional sculpture. What the second part describes is the modern sculpture nationality's exploration process. The modern sculpture nationality's exploration process is descript in the second part. What the third part and the fourth part of main elaboration is the manifestation of the modern sculpture, which is under the current multiplex, the new globalizes cultural situation, new technology, new material and new ideological trend influence. In paper finally partial, what describes is how to absorb the tradition in the sculpture creation with some outstanding sculpture works. Integrates the traditional thought to the artistic creation, expands the artistic creator's mentality, not only this is the sculpture own need to develop, is also the time and the national culture development necessity.The folk sculptures is another rich and extraordinary treasures in our country. Limited to the time and the energy reason, in this paper, there is mainly carries on some deliberations to the mainstream sculpture.Chinese sculpture must find its way out in the world, because the progress of the whole world makes it's impossible to turn back to its origin. The challenge we are facing is that how to pick up the confidence in our cultural heritage, and finding treasure in our history, and utilizing its great potentiality, bringing in a promising future. Accordingly, Chinese culture will walk on the right path with self-discipline, and discover the difference between Chinese and western culture, eventually, establishing the true value with its substantial native ground. Walk our own way, from limitation to infinity, this is the essence of contemporary sculpture, and it also will bring Chinese sculpture into a bright future.
