Study On The Core Category "Emotion" In Ci-poetry

There are some primary categories about the essence of literature, such as "emotion","ambition","will" and so on, which are condensed summaries from literary creation in practical activity and to disciplines of the essence of literature. So the primary categories become focus in the researches on category and interrelated stylistics. In the theory system of lexicography, "emotion" is a primary category which is very much so in the core. Firstly, in terms of literary creation, the "emotion" in Ci literature has a transformation from the "erotic style" in the late Tang dynasty and the Five Dynasties in its budding stage, to the "disposition theory" and "temperament and interest theory " in the Northern Song Dynasty, to the "affection and will theory" in the Southern Song Dynasty, to the "true feeling theory" in the Jin and Yuan Dynasty, to the "erotic style" in the Ming Dynasty, and takes shape eventually in the Qing Dynasty under the tendency of the blend of the "emotion and ambition theory" and the "affection and will theory". Secondly, the argument between emotion and aspiration becomes the basis of the argument between poetry and Ci-poetry, which is especially showed in the transformation from the emotion and aspiration theory category in poetry to the affection and will theory category in Ci -poetry. As the traditional view of Confucian poetic education, the principle that showing one's ambition is usually "self-confident on the strength of one's being right", but the principle that showing emotion is always "cowardly and pimping". The argument between poetry and Ci-poetry in the Ci-poetry field, is based on this different comprehension about "emotion" and "ambition". Finally, different schools of Ci-poetry and different attitudes and comprehension about Ci-poetry categories of different researchers, to a certain extent, also formulate categorical connotation and extension of other stylistic theories in the theory system of Ci-poetry. Researchers who think showing ambition in poetry and Ci-poetry is affinal, usually tend to the bold and unconstrained style which is represented by Su and Xin; who believe showing emotion is the essence of Ci-poetry, usually pursue the style in the collection Hua Jian Ji in the Five Dynasties or study the implicative and euphemistic style from Jiang, Shi, Zhou, Zhang; who try to desalt the contradictory between emotion and ambition, usually take the disposition,temperament and interest and true feeling as the core in order to reconcile the debate between elegance and vulgarity and the debate about which one is the main between the bold and unconstrained style and the implicative and euphemistic style in Ci-poetry. Measuring from the view about which one is the main, the former two is the main, and the latter is the distributary.
