Shen Congwen is one of the most characteristic local writers in the history of literature in Chinese. He created a Xiangxi world for people, which was magical,romantic,sentimental and occupied an important position in the history of literature. Half a century later, another local writer Han Shaogong also created a lot of fictions that are based in Xiangxi. But his Xiangxi is ignorant, backward and barbaric. Shen Congwen and Han Shaogong created their own unique "Xiangxi World". Although one is beauty but the other is ugly, these two Xiangxi have a high degree of unity in the higher level. Both Shen Congwen and Han Shaogong express their strong desire that they want to change the national character through their own "Xiangxi World". They have different position, different experience, but they have the same national sense of crisis.This paper compares their works to analyze why their works are opposite in appearance but unity in deeply thoughts. Analyses the difference of the two "Xiangxi World" from natural scenery, folk beliefs and the lives of human in detail, and directly reflect the antagonistic of the two "Xiangxi World" which is beauty in Shen Congwen's works and ugly in Han Shaogong's works in the surface structure. Shen Congwen and Han Shaogong have some unification in the cultural background, the ways of thinking and the intention of creativity in high degree. Shen Congwen and Han Shaogong were all affected by the Chu Wu culture, and faced the problem of the cultural atrophy and national character reconstruction. By the different "Xiangxi World" they expressed the common aspiration of reconstruction on national culture and national characterThey are different in expression under the same condition from the aspects of cultural vision, values and positions. Shen Congwen builds his own ideal world of life from the perspective of traditional culture with a deep homesickness for his hometown. Han Shaogong explores the "collective unconscious" and the nation evil of the history of sedimentation in the traditional culture from the perspective of intellectual and stranger.The two "Xiangxi World" there are some meaning and value in the history of cultureThey have a strong sense of philosophical thinking and deep concern on the psychology of culture, and they pay high attention to human's psychosis, which acts as the vector of history and culture. They make use of myths and legends, strange customs and mysterious force of nature to create the mood and atmosphere of the novel image. The deep meaning of the novel is often found in the symbolic significance and mystery.
