"Red Classics" was revolution culture in the 1950s and 1960s in China. It was used by almost all means including novel, broadcast, drama, film, painting, music and soon. Of all these, "Red Classics" films with strong revolutionary heroism and romantic atmosphere spread most widely and have the greatest impact. From 1950s to 1970s, they were the most important spiritual food and they are getting re-popular and becoming the most striking culture. As an ideological discourse carrier, the rise and fall of "Red Classics" both follow the logical law of self-development and reflect social and political demands.Because of the far behind social development and the poor public knowledge when PRC was founded, even none knew about television. For these special conditions, "Red Classics" had a more far-reaching impact.In the new period, the spread of "Red Classics" television play a leading role with the growing media resources. National ideological control, market rules, hope of people and film cultural innovation, it is all these that launched its re-popularity. Today it is conductive to investigate, this to study how to carry the cultural tradition and how to better theme. This article tries to find why "Red Classics" film came into being and what its value was and how it developed in two ways: arts and sociological science. So we can explore its internal and external causes and we can reflect its practical significance.
