The Practical Significance Of Life Stories

The life story is a common story type with realistic and vivid features, closelyrelated to the public’s life. They, which have colorful main characters, are widespreadin Henan Province and have been studied extensively. The study of the characteristicsof such stories is contributed not only to the realization of the practical significance ofthe folk literature, but also to promotion of socialist spiritual civilization.Most of these stories are humorous, in which the narrators employ the dialectsmixed with the local folk customs and the public senses to allow the audience to feelthe authenticity and immediacy of the stories and to gain more knowledge andexperience.This paper is composed of three parts:The first part is Introduction: Discussing the significance of the topic andreviewing the current researches on the life stories in China.The second part is Body: Including four chapters. The first chapter is a simpleintroduction of the definition of the life story and its functions, the cultural and socialfunctions of the life story and its impact on the real-life are also mentioned in thischapter. In the second chapter, starting from the texts of life stories in Henan, theauthor offers a simple classification of the common life stories there and introducesthe research methods used in this paper. The third chapter is the analysis of theformation and forms of Henan life stories from the perspective of Henan geographicaland human environments. In the fourth chapter, the author describes the magic powerof life story’s popularity under the impact of modern media, as well as its academic,educational and cultural values.The last part is Conclusion: Summarizing the significances and values of the lifestories in the real world.
