| The revival of virtue ethics is one of the most important and meaningful themes in the contemporary ethics development. Confucius considered "how to cultivate a moral person" and cultivating, forming and disseminating virtue as one of his main missions. In this sense, Confucius' ethics is the virtue ethics. Confucius' virtue ethics, as the original wisdom, not only provide an inspiration for us to think about contemporary issues of ethics but also establish value coordinates for those who are in the ethical dilemma .The thesis focuses its attention on the ethical thought of Confucius, clarifies the Confucian Ethics clearly and systematically from the perspective of virtue ethics .As a result, our modern society could be benefited from Confucius' theory of virtue ethics.Confucius focused on the problem of "how to cultivate a moral person", which involved at first the basis of virtue ethics. Confucius laid the moral foundation for virtue through the link between human nature and providence and the establishment of the "ren".At the same time, Confucius also built a complete system of moral cultivation. In Confucius' theory of moral cultivation , "wen zhi bin bin" set up pattern for developing virtue; "Perfect virtue from a man himself "demonstrated the subjective power; "Studying basically and reaching highly" determined the direction of moral cultivation. As a character innate in human being, virtue lies in the inside but must be displayed outsides. This article expounds Confucius' statements on virtue and moral actions, virtue and norms so as to reveal the characteristics of externalize virtue. The externalization of virtue constantly witnesses the achievements of virtue and continuously reaches the ideal virtuous realm. Finally, the relations between virtue and being, virtue and happiness come to harmony.There is no doubt that thinking of modern values of Confucian moral ethics needs a broad perspective. Consequently, we have to grasp the dynamics during the contemporary social life and the development of ethics and explore the value of Confucian virtue ethics in the coordinate system which is full of tradition and themodern, the East and the West. |
