Individual liberalism has increasingly popular make people gradually neglected the pursuit of inner virtue, in-depth study of virtue ethics, draw lessons from the east and west traditional virtue, ethical dilemma in modern people’s overall development and form a positive and healthy social tendency has the vital significance. This article applies the method of comparative analysis, through the comparing Confucius and Aristotle’s virtue ethics, found the differences and similarities between them, through compare eastern with western to find the difference of virtue theory, makes effort to fully correct the understanding of the nature and function of virtue, to help individuals to develop into a moral accomplishment and the highest virtue, virtue in further development towards the direction of the good in life. At the same time, under the guidance of virtue theory to form a harmonious social public life.This thesis consists of the following sections. The first chapter, introduction. In this chapter will overview the research background, research purpose and meaning, research methods and instructions.The second chapters, This chapter content for later analysis of Confucius and Aristotle’s virtue ethics thought and the content of the similarities and differences between laid a foundation. Produce thoughts of Confucius and Aristotle their development to a great extent affected by factors such as the economic, social background, Confucius’s understanding of "benevolence" leave the rites of zhou of the revival of political ideal, Aristotle’s goodness and happiness is inseparable from the peculiar to the ancient Greek polis system. This chapter starting from the social background of their own time, the introduction of western and eastern virtue theory origin, as well as their important position in the development of virtue ethics, on the basic content of Confucius and Aristotle’s theory of virtue.The third chapters mainly discusses the core contents of Confucius and Aristotle’s virtue ethics, and character of hierarchical classification.
