Aton Chekhov is realized as a 19th century critical realism writer at first, however his works disclose the obvious modern consciousness. As a great writer at the turn of the century, Chekhov's creations break through the traditional realism bamboo fence in many aspects. Especially in reflect the real life, he does not pay great attention to imitation, but surpasses the embodiment world, pursue the metaphysical reality and display the obvious modern consciousness. In his plays, there are brighter modern features. On Chekhov's plays stage, everything looks like life. In the ordinary, Chekhov reveals the most important and profound contradiction in the daily lives -people's thoughts confusion and mental suffering.This article believed that Platonov, the first of Chekhov's plays, reflects the deep sense of modern. Chekhov foresee in the coming century, when humanity's ideal is encounters by life, it will cause the sense of ideological conflict and confusion, so he gives Platonov the literature charm beyond the times and the modern significance.First of all, this article analyses the characters in Platonov, and elaborate the theme of the theme in Platonov, then find out the similar theme with western literature in the 20th century. Such as the loneliness, nothingness, the contradictions and conflicts between their lives and ideals, the effort which they seek their own value and the exit of life, all of these themes manifest the intense modernity. Second, this article inquires the reason why Chekhov had this beyond the era's modern consciousness from three aspects, including the specific time when Chekhov lived, the "superfluous" tradition in the history of Russian literature, and Chekhov's personal experience. At last, the article discusses the influence which is produced by this theme and which is playing an important role in Chekhov's later literature creation and western drama.
