A Comparative Study Of Chekhov And Liu Zhenyun’s Survival State Writing

The survival state writing refers to the writer in his works focusing on the real survivalstate and living circumstances of people in real life, including people’s encounter andsituation, the pain and disaster who experienced, emphasizes the attention to human itselfcondition and meaning of life value.The survival state writing and concern to the survivalstate is the important content in the novels of Chekhov and Liu Zhenyun.Chekhov wrote from the ordinary things of the ordinary person in ordinary life,whowildly reflected real life, revealed social ulcer and satirized social vulgar,expressing theprospect and expectation of a new life at the same time. Such as On the Nail, The Fat and TheLean,The Death of a Civilian etc.,which reveal the unseemly manner of officialdom.Such asWorried,which describes the bitterness of the society under theTsars.Such as WardNO.6,which accuses the reactionary rule under the Tsars.Such as Ionitch，Gooseberry,whichcriticize the the smell of vulgar in Ordinary people’s daily life.Liu Zhenyun is therepresentative writer of neo-realism novelists in the new period and he wrote form theordinary life of ordinary person and local officials as well as the variation of rural life, andtook more realistic care on the survival state,destiny,humanity of human in a particular view.Chekhov is a master of Critical Realism in Russia in the19th century and Liu Zhenyun isthe important representative writer of the New Realism.Though they have much different inage and writing background, they have more similarity in the choice of theme andcharacter,which includes the description and presentation of real survival state of ordinaryperson.From this perspective,The thesis studies it on survival state writing.The thesis adopts the method of parallel research.Firstly, The thesis expounds the writingstatus of Chekhov and Liu Zhenyun’s survival state writing.Then it expounds the comparisonof Chekhov and Liu Zhenyun’s survival state writing in the levels of art explanation andrealistic care. The art explanation of survival state is form three aspects:absurdity,reality andalienation. I discuss the realistic care of the survival state writing mainly on the colonial lifecare,social criticism and spiritual value reconstruction. The thesis studies the similarities anddifferences of Chekhov and Liu Zhenyun’s survival state writing by the means of textanalysis,and makes us think of the survival state,destiny,humanity of human.
