Nie Bao was one of the important disciples of Wang Yangming, the representative of Yang-Ming school in Jiangyou. Nie and Luo Nian An belong to Quietness School. In his early years, Nie studied on Yi-ology. Later he became Wang Yangming's disciple and was devoted to grasp Wang Yang-ming's thoughts of mind. Nie Bao thought that the innate knowledge was "Originally Quiet", He opposed regarding consciousness as the innate knowledge; Nie regarded the ontology of The Innate Knowledge being Originally Ouiet as its theoretical foundation of Realizing the Innate Knowledge. At last, he put forward the essence of Regression Quietness of "Pursuing Empty and keeping Quiet", advocated that the priority learning of the innate knowledge was in delivering knowledge and the Investigating things only was its efficacy. Then he drew a conclusion that the achievement of Investigating Things orginated from the maintenance of tranquility. Nie thought that "the unity of knowing and doing" meaning the interactive influence of knowing and doing. Nie's thoughts of philosophy that brought to the forefront at that time should not be neglected. Nie's thoughts follows the essence of the doctrine of Wang Yangming and takes an improtant role in the development of Wang-School.The dissertation attempts to describe a real Nie Bao by comparing Nie to Yangming longitudinally in one hand and to others of Yangming School horizontally in the other, and by studying on Nie's thoughts, it tries to find the inherent logic of later Yang-Ming school, and attempts to disclose his philosophical style and features.
