The Boxer Movement In Tianjin

Around 1900, the Boxer Movement developed quickly In North China and the Tianjin area became the main battlefield. This paper is focus on the research of Tianjin area. The author want to grasp the entire process of the Tianjin Boxer Movement from the macro level .on the other hand, since the diversity of Tianjin Boxer Movement, the main thrust of this paper is how to deeply analyze the Tianjin Boxer Movement objectively.Tianjin was the area that every route of Boxers entering in Jun and July of 1900.This paper analyzes each route that they entered Tianjin. Through the crawling passing of Boxer document and investigation, the author further enrich the heads of Tianjin Boxer Movement and the details of their basic information of battle command. Since the Qing government call the Boxer "Eisenia" openly, the Boxers got the privileges granted by the officials.Tianjin area was the most powerful battlefield to back against the Eight Allied Powers. The armed forces in the battlefield was the mass forces. The author make a study of the Qing Army dispatched to Tianjin. The Boxer had actively participated in the battle to defend the Tianjin, whose sprint of resisting strength was worth praising. However, the Qing-army has brought the main effect into play. Especially in the battle of defending Tianjin, although the Military Strength of the Tianjin Defence was at a disadvantage comparing to the number of the Eight Allied Powers, they still had strong resistance before and after the fall in Tianjin. The Eight Allied Powers used Gas Guns in the war and this article further confirmed that historical facts.The war of striking back against the Eight Allied Powers in Tianjin area was the Mass War under the circumstances of the national contradiction which intensifies gravely in the modern times. In the war there was a broad participation and energy releasing of Chinese traditional popular strength. For the reason above, the Boxer Movement was no longer on simple anticlerical of its initial stage, but the mass war to some degree.
