Susanne K. Langer, representative figure of the Theory of Emotional Expression holds that "art is a symbolic form of emotion". Art is the symbolic creation of human emotion, and a "form of life". Emotion is a certain kind of connotation and strong emotionality is a prominent feature of art practice. The artist's impulse and passion of creation is the motive power in the world of art creation. The genuine artistic work is always full of strong emotion, which comes from one person's heart and then goes into thousands upon thousands of persons' hearts. Art creation is determined by emotion. As an important painting art, watercolor painting, the whole process of watercolor creation is determined by emotion surely. Emotion is one of the most important elements reflecting the theme of watercolor creation, and is also part of the subject of watercolor creation. Actually the process of watercolor art creation is the process of the overflow of an artist's emotion. It is obviously manifested as a process of the sublimation of emotion for a watercolor artist. The nimble and over flowing watercolors make the artists unbosom themselves during the freely, happily and facilely painting, and pursue wonderful thoughts and inspiration, which also make audience easily realize the beauty of free creation and lyric freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese painting from artists.
