The opera Eugene Onegin, composed by Tchaikovsky, occupies an important position in the history of Russian operas. Drawn from Pushkin's poetic novel Onegin , it is a typical Russian lyric opera with Russian folk style of music. My paper makes an introduction of traits of characters in the play and makes an analysis of the interpretation of opera music, the grasp of its style and the leading music theme. The focus is on the vocal and performing techniques of Tatyana's aria and the "letter writing"scene.
