Mr. Bao Yuankai is one of the most famous and influential composers in contemporary China,The music he created are not only loved by the domestic masses,but also have been warmly welcomed by overseas. The Chinese traditional musical series works"Rhapsody of China", especially its first part Chinese Sights and Sounds-24 Pieces by Themes on Chinese Folktunes for Symphony Orchestra ( hereinafter to be referred as Chinese sights and sounds ),which was interpret as western musical style by him,have already performed in Asia,Europe,the Americas,Africa and Oceania more than 40 countries and regions,in 1995,Chinese sights and sounds has also been included in the national high school Music Appreciation Textbooks by Chinese Education Commission. The artistic achievement of Mr. BAO Yuankai have occupied an extremely important position in our music and arts development history.Mr. BAO's unique charming harmony techniques in Chinese sights and sounds , have played a role that can not be ignored for the smriti of our traditional music in the comtemporary era. This article will comprehensively and systematically analyze Chinese sights and sounds in order to study Mr. BAO Yuan Kai is how to make west modern harmony techniques coordinated with Chinese Pentatonic style works,and also how to promote the innovation and development of national style harmony . This thesis will be divided into five parts: the first part is to introduce Mr. BAO Yuankai and Chinese sights and sounds ;the second part is to study the vertical structure of the harmony in the works;the third part is to study the harmony progression of the works;the forth part is to study the structural function of the harmony in the works;and the fifth part is to study the tonality thought of the works.
