In recent years,the problem of left-behind children in rural area has caused serious concern to the academic figures. To explore possible intervention ways by studying the differences between left-behind children and non-left-behind children, this paper integrated quantity and quality research. All students in Chaimen middle school took part in the study, by using ER89, adolescent life event scale, coping style scale. Then 71 students were taken at random to be interviewed ,finding the differences between them on social support network and 19 students ,5 parents and 3 teachers were interviewed in depth in order to identify the fundamental reasons behind differences.Results and conclusions:First, it turns out that the total scores of resiliency in all students were in good position and there is no difference between left-behind children and non-left-behind children in age, grade, sex and left-behind types, which is agree with results according to the quality research.Second, there is significant difference between left-behind children and non-left-behind in total score of Life event, especially on relationship, health, punishment and other factors. There is significant difference on relationship and health between different left-behind types. According to post hock comparison, there is significant difference between non-left-behind children and left-behind children whose father is out on relationship, health, punishment and other factors. But It is different just on health between non-left-behind children and those whose parents both were out. As far as concrete life events are concerned, there is significant differences between left-behind children and non-left in five life events, such as be discriminated, away from relatives for a long time, be insulted by parents, fighting with others and study stress from family, which is agree with results from the quality research.Third, it turns out to be no differences in coping style between left-behind children and non-left-behind, also among different left-behind types. This is same to the conclusion from the quality research.Fourth, we find that there is no difference between left-behind children and non-left-behind children in the size of the social support network. we can find too many non-relatives in social support network, in both left-behind children or not. Moreover, most children are satisfied with network members'help, and there is no difference in closeness to the network members between left-behind children and non-left-behind.
