An Empirical Study About Mood Effects On Detection Of Deception And Trust

Telling a lie is a common phenomenon. In daily lives, people often tell a white or malicious lie out of their interests or others. With the common phenoenon and the widespread of concern of telling a lie, trust has been a common object of many subjects such as psychology, politics, economics, and so on. Will transitory mood affect the tendency of believing others? Will it affect the ability of detecting deception? To a widespread degree, whether believing what a person said depends on the person's mood. This is a hard and essential task a person faces in society.Therefore this research suggests effectively positive and passive mood conditions, established two types of situations-- lying and speaks the truth, and establishes different baseline ratio of lies, under each kind of condition, the author will discuss mood condition influence to rumor recognition and trust.. Therefore this research suggests effectively positive and negative mood conditions, established two types of situations-- lying and speaks the truth, and establishes different baseline ratio of lies, under each kind of condition, the author will discuss mood condition influence to rumor recognition and trust.At first, according to the first research, prove the two hypothesises based on the condition which the deception's baseline is 1/2,and then, according to the second research, prove the two hypothesises based on the condition which the deception's baseline are 1/6,1/2,5/6. The outcome of the research is as following:(1)the affective significantly influence people's ability to detect deception, this experiment show that in positive state the ability to detect deception have a significantly lower level than people in negative state; the signal detection indicates show that sad judges were overall more accurate in detecting deception, and they also displayed a stricter criteria the affective significantly influence people's trust to others(2) In positive state the individual's level of trust is significantly higher than people in negative state. The results have important theoretical significance, as as well as practical value.
