Deception refers to the psychological process of intentionally forcing others to accept falsehoods in order for you or others to avoid loss or gain profit, which often brings serious consequences to others and the society. Therefore, deception detection has always been the focus of research in the field of psychology.Deception is accompanied by a higher cognitive load. When the cognitive load required for lying / telling the truth increases,it has a greater impact on the deception, which can trigger the physiological and behavioral differences between the cheater and the honest person, thus promoting the detection of deception.Hidden information testing(CIT)has become one of the mainstream methods in the field of deception detection.Adding a task conversion interference task to the hidden information test may increase the cognitive load and thus promote deception detection. On the basis of cognitive load theory and previous research results, this study combines hidden information test and interpoint detection interference task, and discusses the effective method to promote deception detection through correct rate and reaction time index, which has certain innovative and practical value.Experiment 1,to investigate whether the interference task in the hidden information test can promote deception detection.Using a mixed experimental design, the independent variables were stimulus type(probe stimuli, irrelevant stimuli),group("criminal" group,"innocent" group),and the dependent variables were behavioral indicators(accuracy, reaction time). The results showed a significant difference in the CIT phase, and no the group. In the interference CIT phase, the response duration of the "criminal" group was significantly greater than that of the irrelevant stimulus;there was no significant difference between the "innocent" group and the irrelevant stimulus responses. The time difference between the probe stimulus and the irrelevant stimuli in the interference CIT group was significantly greater than that in the no-interference CIT group.Based on the cognitive load theory,we speculated that the cognitive load of individuals with the probe stimulus appearing before and after the target stimulus may differ. Before the detection stimulus appears in the target stimulus, the "crime" group focuses on whether the detection stimulus or the irrelevant stimulus, and responds "no" to the two stimuli, and the "crime" group can "no" to the other stimulus after "yes" to the target stimulus;while the "innocent" group can not detect the detection stimulus and the irrelevant stimulus, and there is no response conflict.Adding the point detection interference task to increased cognitive load had a greater impact on the "crime" group. In Experiment 2,set the point detection interference task between the times of the detection stimulus to promote the deception detection, and investigate whether the deception detection efficiency of the detection stimulus before and after the target stimulus is more stable.Using a mixed experimental design, the independent variables were stimulus type(probe stimulus, irrelevant stimulus),stimulus location(before target stimulus, after target stimulus),and group("crime" group,"innocent" group),and the dependent variables were behavioral indicators(accuracy, response time). The results showed that the difference between the detection stimuli in the interference CIT stage was significantly greater than that in the no-interference CIT stage, and there was no significant difference in the "innocent" group. This study found that by increasing cognitive load to set interference tasks and then promoting deception detection, there is the opportunity to greatly invest in practice in the future, and provide theoretical and technical support for practical applications in deception detection related fields.Could inspire future research to improve deception detection techniques and reveal possible factors influencing the efficacy of deception detection of behavioral indicators, thus providing guidance on the application of deception detection will potentially promote social collaboration and reduce the harm caused by deceptive behavior.
