In ancient china, the Imperial Examination(Keju in Chinese)was divided into two catagories, namely, arts exam (Wenke in Chinese) and military exam (Wuke or Wuju in Chinese). In recent years, the study on Imperial Examination system has gradually become one of the hot issues in the fields of education and history. However, the research on the military exam is not hot. The military exam went through Tang Dynaty, Song Dynaty, Jin Dynaty, Ming Dynaty and Qing Dynaty. However, Qing Dynasty paid much attention to it. Seeing from system, Qing basically inherited procedure and method of the previous military examination, but it exceeded far more than other dynasties. In the first year of Yongzheng, Qing government set up the military exam of Mongolian eight-counties. The opening of this exam promoted the development of Qing'military exam, and enriched its types. To be frank, this exam was the twinkling of the Qing Dynasty. The main content of its outfield exam was bow and arrow practice. Qing government focused on the classification of its outfield exam, exam methods and management measures, etc. In its outfield exam, only people who passed shooting qualified for attending the program of"JIYONG". This program included three items, which were shooting strong bow, brandishing swords and lifting stone.The arrangement of its"JIYONG"enriched the requirement of selecting qualified people.In this thesis, the author summarizes seniors'achievements, and fully explored and applied historic resource to study more specifically and systematically the military exam of Mongolian eight-counties in Qing Dynasty. This paper manages to have great breakthrough on choosing topic, getting and employing historical resources. The text sourced from《QingShiLu》and《QinDingDaQingHuiDianShiLi》, and combined the related theories and methods in the fields of education, history, and ethnology to studied the military exam in an integrated way. According to this study, it can help people know more about ways of selecting physical talents through the exam of Mongolian eight-counties. It has significant academic value and theoretical meaning.This thesis consists of introduction, main body, conclusion and bibliography. There is about 30 thousand words. In the introduction part, the author states the following contents: the thesis statement, the state of predecessors'study, the purpose and meaning of selecting this topic, research methods and so on. The main body comprises two parts. The former part elaborates the origin of military exam (including military exam of Tang Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Jin Dynasty, and Ming Dynasty,etc). The latter part discusses military exam of Mongolian eight-counties in Qing Dynasty, which embraces the form,the content and method of examination, management measures, tables which elaborate those who won the military exam, and the relationship between the military exam and official study of Mongolian eight-counties.
