Born in Spain in 1951, Pedro Almodovar,"Master of Desire", has been greatly influenced by "pop culture" and the wave of post-modernism in the 1960s. Regarding the nature of human desire as the starting point and combined with a variety of colorful expressive post-modern element, His movies appear to be unique in the world and are admired by global fans. So accordingly he is honored as the "Genius of Spanish Films." This article is composed of four parts, which discuss the most famous Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar and his road of art. This thesis attempts to comprehensively analyze both himself and his movies so as to display a true Pedro Almodovar from his films. The first part of this thesis mainly analyzes Almodovar's life stories and his process of creation. Then a description of the actors in Almodovar's films is presented in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the style of his movies. The second part analyzes the theme elements of Almodovar's films from the perspective of Freud's psychoanalysis theory and feminist theory, which is "passion" and "female". The third part discusses the cultural connotations of Almodovar's films from the angle of"pop culture"and the post-modern theory. It starts with the analysis of "pop" style in Almodovar's films from audio-visual aspects of language, and then interprets the cultural connotations of Almodovar's films from the post-modern views. The part four analyzes the shortcomings and defects of Almodovar's films, which refer to too much sex scenes and excessive involvement with the marginalized topic. The innovative aspects of this article are listed in the following. The first aspect is comprehensive. In this paper, a combination of Almodovar's all well-known films, as well as the comments from film industry is provided. Secondly it is concrete. In this paper, the theoretical construct is not a castle in the air. It is the more detailed, more specific, more in-depth breakthrough based on the previous theoretical researches. Furthermore, it is original. Some new views in the article are put forward and the academic discussion needs rational imagination. Finally, it is critical. Although I study Almodovar's films, I do not blindly follow him, but treat him with a critical look, such as criticizing the shortcomings and deficiencies in his films, etc.In this paper, a comprehensive, specific, unique, dialectical exposition has been provided to analyze Almodovar's films, which intends to fully explain the artistic features of Almodovar's films in order to learn the aesthetic experience brought forward by the "seventh art" and break the ultimate code of human nature.
