Expressionism is a very important school of contemporary literature. The word expressionism comes from Latin expressus which means that throwing and pressing. This term firstly appeared on an art exhibition in France in 1901 and it was the name of a set of oil paintings. Later it influenced many fields, especially the drama which has achieved splendid accomplishments.Expressionism Dramas show very evident introversion characteristic which has greatly influenced the later development of the dramas. They think that the world exists and only copying the world is meaningless. And they are not satisfied with describing the exterior objective things of Realism. They stand for breaking through the exterior ideas, expressing the inner substance, getting rid of the exterior impression and directly showing the writer's subjective ideas. Also they think that art is not reality but spirit, not reappearance but expression. So they often distort the reality by exaggeration and deformation to gain better expression of inner spirit and mentality. From their point of views, literature should express the human being's nature and invisible spirit. The three ways of the instruction of the expression of the introversion characteristic is its breaking through the classical tradition and its pursuing modern description, discusses expressing the inner passion and irrational preposterousness and internalizing the outer world. It also includes knowledge and judgment which don't follow the disciplines, disciplines knowledge which can't show the real life again and only dissecting the inner world can know the real world.
