Discussion On Poetry Creation In Wuzhou Region During Yuan And Ming Dynasty

Wuzhou region has gradually formed a strong traditional Confucianism and academic atmosphere since Song dynasty, which exerts great influence on literati's personality molding, aesthetic and cultural taste. During Yuan and Ming dynasty, there were numerous well-educated people, who later became a group of literati since they shared common interest and cultural taste, and had close contact with each other. They left abundance of literary works based on the time and people they lived in.The thesis explores poetry creation in Wuzhou region during Yuan and Ming dynasty, from the perspectives of the general condition of poets, the content and characteristics of poetry as well as its social status and influence, taking cultural characteristics of Wuzhou region and the social features of Yuan and Ming dynasty into consideration.This thesis consists of the following five parts.The first part mainly discusses the regional culture of Wuzhou in Yuan and Ming dynasty and probes into the question of cultural inheritance from the angle of academic inheritance and literary transmission.The second part discusses the situation of the group of poets, which is divided into three parts; statistics have been made on the number of the poets.The third part discusses the contents of poetry creation in terms of realistic society, replying writing, describing scenes with feelings , imitating ancient poetry and so on. The fourth part discusses the features of poetry creation of Wuzhou from three aspects :age. region and art of thought.The fifth part briefly discusses the position and influence of literati's poetry creation of Wuzhou region in Yuan and Ming dynasty. Firstly this thesis evaluates the achievement of literati's poetry creation from the comment of later generations; secondly, analyses the achievement and limitation of literati's poetry creation in Wuzhou region; lastly, discusses the influence on poetry development of later ages.When researchers conduct surveys on Wuzhou region in Yuan and Ming dynasty, they usually ignore the poetry created at that time. However, poetry plays a significant part in understanding the social society of Wuzhou, thus people can have a better understanding of the literature map of Wuzhou region by studying the poetry created at that period.
