Small Town World In The New Century Literature

This essay mainly researches the new century small city literature as a literary phenomenon, basically adopting the method of unscrambling texts to grasp the city literature in integrity.This paper firstly elaborates the new town constructing by new century city literature from space, the scene and characters .It thoroughly analyzes the thematic description of town space,the culture presented by scene and problems manifested by town characters' leaving and staying ,through which can grasp the human culture,customs and historic changes in the small town world.This paper holds that the small town narratives creatived by writers who produce works with small town subject are not only to show the style and change of towns,but more to the present variation in town from the cultural level.So,this paper analyzes writers' cultural position from the perspective of culturology and sociology. Writers are common in nostalgia in cultural significance, showing the sense of crisis for changes in the culture and ambivalent attitude for disappearing of small town's traditional culture:One kind is insisting on the traditional poetry, continuing to express the ideal beautiful town world,and another kind is pessimistically disrupting town's poetics, but full of colors of passionate criticism.This paper combs origine and inheriting of the new century town literature from the view of history of literature and analyzes relationship of city literature, town literature and rural literature. Also, it resolves the standpoint presented in the subject of small town, city and village by the main force of writers creating small town literature. This paper holds that in the new century, city literature well inherited the literature spirit of modern town literature works. Cities, villages and towns take on ternary literary world, closely relating to each other.Small town writers obviously resist city and have sense of intimacy towards town and village.This paper will try reseaching new century city literature as a whole phenomenon,and list systematically significancy presented by town literature in the process of literary history at present. This article holds that the small town world is unique, cultural posture showed by writers deserves our attention, and literary and cultural signifiancy illustrated through the process of social change and development of lterary modernization should achieve sufficient attention.
