Chinese opera is a unique artistic form formed by the combination of local music with the opera which was introduced into China in the early 20th century. It has been experiencing for nearly a century of development in China through toughness and nearly hundred opera works have been created. Though these artistic works have different level, such art practice has set solid foundation for the present and future existence and development of Chinese opera. The opera ShangShi was composed by Mr Shi Guangnan in 1981 in memory of the centenary of Lu Xun's birth It is one of the ipmportant achievements in 1980s'chinese national opera compositionThe full content of Shang Shi is divided into three parts: preface, text and epilogue. The preface is divided into three parts. The first part gives a brief introduction of Shang Shi including its literary characteristics. The characterization of Zi Jun and the characters of Zi Jun's ballad are analyzed in detail in the second part of Shang Shi. The third part summarizes the development situation of Chinese opera in the new period and the realistic meaning of the creative style and creative thinking of Shang Shi in the enlightenment of today's Chinese opera creation. The epilogue reaffirms the positive role of Shi Guangnan and Shang Shi to the development of Chinese opera.
