Studies Of The Marriage Systems And Marriage Customs In The SongXiaJin Period

This dissertation mainly studied the marriage systems and marriage customs of the nationalities of Han, DangXiang and NuZhen. With the unique characteristics of the marriage systems and marriage customs as the breakthrough point and with the successions and developments as the mainline, the investigations of the marriage systems and marriage customs revealed the marriages, customs, cultures and social lives in the SongJinXia period.The dissertation includes five sections. In the introduction section we discussed the motivation, significance, current status, research methods and the main research points.The second section discussed the marriage idea, marriage age, marriage witness and the official marriage of the hans' marriage systems in the SongXiaJin period. We analyzed the features and influences of talent, family background and property in the marriage idea. And we also studied the evolution of the widow remarriage idea, which was from freedom to gradual restraint.In the third section we studied the succession and development of the hans' marriage customs and etiquette and the developments of some other special marriage types.The fourth section discussed the characteristics of the marriage systems and marriage customs of the DangXiangs and NuZhens in the SongXiaJin period.In the last section the mutual influences and mutual penetrations among different marriage systems and marriage customs was pointed out, and we then summarized the whole studies.
