Comparisons And Researches On The Law Of Identity And Law Of Contradiction Between The West And East

By reviewing the development of law of identity and law of contradiction, I summarized how these two laws developed in ancient China. By analysing these two laws in logic view and from the historical and philosophical view, I summarized the relations between"Name Rectification"which comes from Confucian's logic thought with the law of identity. At last, I compared the pointed of view of these two laws between the West and China.Confucius outlined"Name Rectification". Mencius put it into the field of logic, and Xunzi put forward the requirements of it."Mojing"We could not find any symbol expressions in"Mojing", but we could find variables in it, and the formulae of the law of identity is just the same with the West. The"identity"in the law of identity means"sameness"in"Mojing", the extension and intension of it is just the same. While, the"identity"from Aristotelian means"all in one", so it just similar like what was said in"Mojing". The law of contradiction was found in"Mojing"also, Hanfei advocate the theory of contradiction first, and he said that contradiction existed in every style of languages. But Hanfei put more attention on the relation of contradiction. While, Aristotle use"reverse"and"relatively"to represent contradiction, and he put more attention on the basis of contradiction.By study the relevant works written by the people from accient times and relations between the grammar, semantic and thinking of Chinese language, that we can have a further understanding of the linguistic logic. Arousing people pay more attention on the law of logic.
