Immanuel Kant, famous for his critique philosophy, ranks one of the greatest German philosophers in the 18th century. He believes that our age is, in especial degree, the age of criticism, and to criticism everything must submit. Religion through its sanctity, and law-giving through its majesty, may seek to exempt themselves from it. But they then awaken just suspicion, and cannot claim the sincere respect which reason accord only to that which has been able to sustain the test of free and open examination. Not only religion, but also science and metaphysics must in the face of reason argue for its existence or non-existence and seek foundations based on which itself unfolds.Antinomy is the convergent point of until now sundry dogmatic metaphysics, in which opposing views from religion, science and metaphysics are reflected, and the reason why antinomy comes into being rests with human reason itself. With the critique of pure reason as tool, Kant just in antinomy designates respective destination for religion, science and metaphysics.Firstly, the function of science is to recognize. Understanding via category sort out miscellaneous appearances provided by empirical intuition, thus to engender knowledge. Category is the cognizing object's inner-structure a priori which guarantees the necessity and universality of science. Herein, at the scope of understanding scientific knowledge can be based, and the foundation of science will be stabilized.Secondly, metaphysics, in the realm of nature, pursuits the absolute totality and simple part (matter) of the world and claims their being experienced intuitively. Essentially, they derive from the synthetic function of understanding category which organize intuitive appearances and continue its synthetic function in transcendent reason. But world totality and matter, rooted in transcendental reason, are transcendent and nothing but ideal of reason, and can not be experienced intuitively, accordingly, metaphysics of nature is falsified. At the meantime, if world totality and matter as concepts of reason retain their transcendental ideality and do not claim empirical reality, they being forever pursuit goal of human understanding will have a tremendous role in promoting the progress of science.Thirdly, based on the critique of metaphysics of nature, Kant believes that the pivotal knot of cognition is cognitive subject, through the cognitive structure a priori of which cognitive subject and object is related, and there is no room left to God as a intermediate third to pre-establish their connection, thus God is exiled from the world of nature. Thus, those dialectical arguments concerning the object of metaphysics of nature is of no avail. Philosophy of its manifestation is dialectical, but of its function is practical. And practical reason is priori to theoretical reason, so, Kant believes that dialectics as the medium of philosophy is aimed at practice, thus is itself wisdom of practice.Fourthly, although the metaphysics of nature is proved not to be given, metaphysics actually exists, if not as a science, yet still as natural disposition. Causality in accordance with laws of nature is the only causality of the appearances of the world, but causality itself is not of this only kind. Human being, creature with two characteristics, can choose to obey the laws of nature or to disobey and start another causal series freely. From this insightful perspective, Kant stresses that the way out of metaphysics is the metaphysics of morals. On the basis of freedom, the metaphysics of morals is not only possible but also necessary. In the metaphysics of morals, God revives. Even if God do not exist, he should be created. With the presence of God, a free and moral life is lived, and happiness which is proportional to moral people is enjoyed, even religion with belief as its core regains its ever lost realm.
