Analysis And Evaluation Of English For Vocational School

In recent years, English has become more and more important with international communication. It's very important for the students in vocational school to master English. Textbooks play the vital role in teaching. With the deepening of the reform in the new curriculum and the development of foreign language teaching, more and more English teaching materials including English textbooks have come out on the market. The teachers should analyze the textbooks in order to understand the current use of this set of textbooks and discover the potential problems with its adoption. It's significant for the improvement of this set of textbooks.In this dissertation, I analyze and evaluate English textbook for vocational school according to English Curriculum Standard. I try to discover some problems of the textbook so that the bookmaker can understand the advantages and disadvantages of the set of textbooks. I hope this dissertation will give some reference to the improvement of the text.This dissertation is divided into five chapters.Chapter One consists of the background, significance, methods, some terms and the structure of the dissertation.Chapter Two is about the relevant researches on English teaching materials. It summarizes the research on the evaluation of English teaching materials in our country and abroad.Chapter Three is a comprehensive analysis concerning the guiding principles, the structure of the book, quality of pictures and charts of the book, language knowledge and language skills.Chapter Four analyzes the current use of the textbook by using the data collected from the teachers' and the students' questionnaires and interviews.Chapter Five is a conclusion of the research, in which the writer not only presents the conclusion of the research according to the analysis of the textbook and the findings of the investigation but also puts forward some suggestions for the editors and the users.
