At present, Philosophy of Culture and The Decline of the West have already had preferable Chinese versions, which undoubtedly provides better materials for China's researchers on cultural philosophy.Today, as an advocater of "reverence for life", Schweitzer has aroused extensive concern among Chinese thinkers, but the study on Schweitzer as a cultural philosopher is not enough.However, the ideological basis of Schweitzer himself is his cultural philosophy thoughts. His criticism on Western culture is collected in his most important bookmaking Philosophy of Culture which is committed to changing the Western cultural problems.Through his decades of pondering, Schweitzer rethink the pros and cons of Western culture profoundly,criticized on the theory of Western Decline of become popular for a time which was revealed by Spengler in his book The Decline of the West.The criticism based on Schwitzer's research Western culture, particularly the results of moral thought: the re looking for the ethical spirit of optimism is the key to break the fatalism on the decline of Western culture, and re-energize the Western culture. Nowdays,Schweitzer's criticism on Spengler and his reflection on Western culture can inspire us with analyzing the traditional Chinese culture and Western culture more rationally.
