In order to meet the personnel needs of the times and cultivate students'ICC, culture teaching is in vital need. Many scholars home and abroad such as Moore, Seelye, Spolsky , Zhang Hongling and so on have emphasized the importance of culture test. Without a scientific and operable testing system, culture teaching will have no leading direction. However, few studies and researches have been done in the field of culture test, thus the study on this topic is worthwhile, essential and greatly needed.Mainly under Moore's theories on culture test and Risager's theory on the cultural content analysis, this dissertation adopts questionnaire as well as a combination of quantitative and qualitative researching methods, and proposes the author's theory on the content and methods of culture test. In order to learn college English teachers'understanding of culture teaching and culture test, questionnaire has been done among fifty college English teachers of Yanshan University. After this, through the qualitative analysis the cultural content of the textbooks being used by the non-English majors---College English (New) is analyzed from three aspects: macro-culture, micro-culture, internationality and interculturaity, through which the content of culture test has been identified. The innovation of this dissertation mainly lies in three areas: constructing a culture testing model which consists cultural knowledge, cultural attitude and cultural behavior three levels; discussing the proper percentage that culture test should take in language test; and proposing various testing methods according to the different test content. All of these opinions above are exploring discussion and it is hoped that they may give some inspiration to the further research on culture teaching and culture test.
