A Research On Islam Faith Of Floating Muslim In Yiwu

The faith has met the fixed individual needs, and enhanced the cohesion of human beings. With the acceleration of urbanization, the faith of the floating Muslim subsequently changes with area changing, whether positive or negative. And these changes bring a significant impact to their religious life and secular life. An eastern small city with faster development of Islam, Yiwu, is chosen to be the point of penetration of the study. We manage to find out the actual state of floating Muslim through describing and analyzing religious action in this city.Basing on field visits and case interviews, and combining questionnaire surveys with literature search, religion state of floating Muslim in Yiwu is deeply investigated under sociology theory from five aspects, religious obligations, Muslim food, relation between mosque and imams, sect consciousness, and interaction of Muslim group inside. And then, causes is analyzed from five aspects, structure of mosque, shifts of Muslim focusing, change of social relationship, transformation of family and community function, and impact of religion management system. Countermeasures and suggestions are put forward according to the development situation of city and religious appealing of Muslim, based on particularity of faith change of Muslim. It is found that floating Muslims in Yiwu tend to keep faith subjectively, and try to develop Islam. However, limited by objective reality, faith change happens simultaneously. Therefore, Muslim groups and local government are thought to work with other social organization, give judicious guidance according to circumstances to respect and protect floating Muslim and finally to construct a harmonious and peaceful world of religion.
