The Non-Verbal Communication Function Of Movie Costume

There are two kinds of ways for human communication, verbal and non-verbal. The latter means all kinds of communication except verbal behaviour. Being one of the important parts of mass media symbols, non-verbal communication plays as essential role as verbal communication does in the course of spreading information. According to some experts in media community, it is said that the whole information human obtain during the communication only consists of 30% verbal symbols, but 60% non-verbal ones in which dress features on the top of the list in which there are appearance, movement and facial expression and so on in this regard. Since we are living in the world filled with various means and media, we are offered various information by television, radio, newspaper, Internet and movie as well. Therefore,in order to make use of some media to further spread Chinese traditional clothing culture all over the world, this thesis is aimed to pay highly attention to the non-verbal communication function of costume in movies, which are analysed in details in several well-known movies internationally and domestically.
