There is a special group descriptives in Chinese dialects with two steps toform—first duplicate then attach. Previous researches always focused on one dialect.This paper will try to make a thorough description of"XXY"form descriptives withmore dialects'data. The paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter one is the preface of the paper. It introduces the purpose andsignificance of the paper, also concludes a comprehensive analysis which is related.Chapter two focuses on Suzhou dialect"XXjiao"form. We distinguish adverbsand descriptives with same form. Then analyze the basic form"X", suffix"jiao"andthe whole form. According to the semantic feature of"X", we divides the"XXjiao"form into two kinds and analyzes their syntax features and pragmatic functions.Chapter three analyzes"XXY"form of Wu Dialect district with both historicaland present views. Firstly We analyzes five typical dialects in Wu Dialect district andconclude the features of"XXY"form descriptives in this district. Secondly analyzethe three forms of"XXY"from different periods with materials written by Wu Dialectand finds its changing path. Thirdly analyze the different states in grammaticalprocess of the typical word"manmanjiao"in different dialects.Chapter four we try to make an investigation of Chinese dialects"XXY"formdescriptives with typology theory. Analyze the grammatical meaning, expressfunctions and pragmatic functions of"XXY"form and classify the suffix"Y".Chapter five is the conclusion. We summarize our viewpoints, explain the valueand the innovation of this paper. Still there are some problems unsolved. We hope wecan go deeper with this research in the future.
