On The Adolescent's Emotion Regulation Competence And Its Relationship With Family Function

In 1980s, psychologists put forward the concept of emotion regulation, researchers had studied it from different perspectives and obtained substantial research achievement. Because of the complexity of emotion and the difference of study perspectives, the domestic studies in this area were comparatively weak. This study used the literature review, interview method, questionnaire survey, statistical analysis and other research methods, put forward the concept of adolescent's emotion regulation competence, explored the structure of adolescent's emotion regulation competence, designed the Questionnaire of Adolescent'Emotion Regulation Competence, investigated the status of adolescent's emotion regulation competence, studied the relationship mechanism between family functioning and adolescent's emotion regulation competence on the base of integration of previous'research about emotion regulation. The results of this research are following:(1) The Questionnaire of Adolescent's Emotion Regulation Competence which was designed by the researcher on the basis of theory structure have good reliability and validity. Initially we confirme that the structure of adolescent's emotion regulation competence is multi-dimensions by using confirmatory factor analysis.(2) The scores of adolescent's emotion regulation competence was slightly higher than the middle level, it needed to be improved. The difference in gender is no significant. The difference in grade and in living with whom are significant.(3) The correlation between family function process(problem solving, roles, communication, affective responsiveness, affective expression, affective involvement and control), family function outcomes(cohesion and adaptability) and adolescent's emotion regulation competence reach to significant level. The later is well predicted by the former.(4) Family function outcomes plays the role of part mediator in the relationship of family function process and adolescent's emotion regulation competence.
