Visual-spatial sketchpad is an important component of working memory model, its functional separation mechanism about processing spatial information and object information in the performance of encoding in different ways and the differences of participatory mechanisms of attention. Visual object working memory is responsible for storage and processing the object shape, color, size and other characteristics, while the visual-spatial working memory is responsible for storage and processing the spatial location of objects, motion characteristics. A number of studies suggest that the success of the visual objects and visual speech coding task requires the involvement of phonological coding and visual coding, while the space missions do not need phonological coding involved. Object composed of different features from different dimensions, when remember a single dimension characterized objects and multi-dimensional characteristics of objects, people use two kinds of encoding or in a certain way based? This paper carried out relevant studies. This study included three experiments, the first two experiments consisting of a single-dimensional characteristics of the object as a stimulus material, using change detection paradigm to explore the coding fashion under the different levels of difficulty naming,The mainly dependent variable is accuracy, reaction time as a reference.The materials of first experiment contain easily named shapes and the shapes not easy to name, with respectively five-pointed star shape, round, arrows, equilateral triangle, square. Material divided into three terms, conditions 1:Five different shapes; condition2:the deformation of the same shape, in accordance with the order larger or smaller in the sequence order; Condition 3:same random shape deformation. Experiment result found stimulate material has the primary effect, stimulus materials with easily named objects was significantly higher than the stimulus materials with not easily named.The materials of second experiment contain easily named colors and the colors not easy to name, five different colors are:red, green, yellow, blue, purple. Material divided into three terms, conditions 1:five different colors, shapes fixed, are rectangular; condition2:different shades of the same color, in accordance with the order varying the order of deep or shallow followed by the emergence of shape are rectangular; Condition 3:different shades of the same color appear random, are rectangular in shape. Experiment result found stimulate material has the primary effect, stimulus materials with easily named objects was significantly higher than the stimulus materials with not easily named. Two experimental results show that the initial hypothesis of this study:To the easy named object information, people remember the same dimension with different visual features of objects, the main use of phonological coding; memory objects with similar visual features, the main use of visual codes.The stimulus material of experiment 3 is some objects contain Characteristics of two dimensions:color and shape, using change detection paradigm. Material divided into four experimental conditions:Condition 1:different shapes, colors, random arrangement; condition2: similar shape, color different, similar to the shape of the random; Condition 3:different shapes, colors like, similar to the random colors; condition 4:similar shape, color similar, random arrangement. Experimental results show that remembering the object with different features from different dimensions, people using visual coding and phonological coding at the same time.
