Haruki Murakami is a contemporary Japanese novelist who is still active in the literary world. Haruki Murakami has been working hard since he began to write. He published a large number of works which attracted many people's attention in the world. His works mingle with cultures between the East and the West, ask and think about the lost youth. Murakami's works put out excellently the blending of multi-cultures in Japan and the negativity, loneliness and helpless of the urban youths. The critics have been engaged in the postmodernism research for Murakami's works over the past decades. Murakami's works have obvious postmodernism features since he creates his first works.It has been a hot subject which dissects Haruki Murakami's early works such as Norwegian Wood, Kafka on the Shore, After Dark and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle from the perspectives of postmodernism. A lot of academic achievements have been made so far. Deeply influenced by the western culture, Haruki Murakami's "Youth Trilogy" (Hear the Wind Sing, The Billiard of 1973 and A Wild Sheep Chase) also embodies the obvious postmodernism features.Life pursuit is a course in Haruki Murakami's "Youth Trilogy". The young protagonist lived through confused and restless period, had been mad and clinging seeking, finally returned to the reality. This essay dissects the seeking theme which runs through Hear the Wind Sing, The Billiard of 1973 and A Wild Sheep Chase, which are his three novels in his youth. The paper dissects and concretes the distortion and alienation of modern metropolis and shows the significance of human existence.Different from other Japanese novelists, although Haruki Murakami was born in the East, he engaged in writing with the western creative methods. It is associated with novelist's learning career and living experiences. Murakami's life, writing and all kinds of factors which influence Murakami's writing have been discussed in details in the first chapter in this paper. The main section of the paper dissects the postmodernism element in Murakami's "Youth Trilogy" in accordance with the Japonic postmodernism and the tending of westernization in Murakami's writing, explores for the inner blue mood, and deeply ponders about the meaning of life in Murakami's "Youth Trilogy"...
