With the booming of information science and technology, IT industry develops rapidly. IT industry, as a fresh and dynamic industry, has some special features different from those traditional industries. Firstly, IT industry has the world foresight with the characteristics of openness and freedom. Secondly, IT industry extraordinarily depends on the Internet and so the propaganda of IT companies is mainly by the Internet. So well-composed English introductions presented on their official websites are equivalently necessary for IT companies, which greatly help to propagandize themselves to the whole world. However, uncoordinatedly there is a large gap in quality of English introductions composed by different companies. Some are well-organized, informative and professional, while some are just on the contrary. The author intends to find the regularity and fixed pattern of this kind of introductions in order to help to publicize the companies to the world.Genre analysis, different from other studies, develops from the surface-level description of language to elaborate the deep-level of discourse structure, and tries to reveal the communicative purposes and the regularity. But genre analysis has mainly been devoted to academic writing with a small amount of studies upon commercial advertisement texts and only rather fewer studies upon company introduction discourses, with no specific focus on those for IT companies. Thus, in this study, genre analysis is employed to discuss IT company introductions. Firstly,30 introduction texts of Chinese IT companies are selected as the miniature corpus. Following that, the analysis to the 30 texts is carried out. In the process of analysis, both qualitative and quantitative approaches are employed, and both theoretical exploration and statistical analysis are made. Through deep and comprehensive analysis,11 moves are identified. Following that, with Hasan's GSP model adopted, these 11 moves are classified into obligatory moves and optional moves. Company Overview (CO), Capability Illustrations (CI), Social Responsibility (SR), Company Structure (CS), Business Scope (BS), Company Culture (CC), these 6 moves are classified to be obligatory ones; and Management Team (MT), Investor Relations (IR), Employment (E), Partnerships (P) and Sponsorships (S), these 5 moves are classified to be optional one. Moreover, the sequence of the 11 moves is identified. So far, the move structure of company introduction discourses is worked out. Then through comparing these 11 moves with Bhatia's model, the author finds out the common points and differences between the move structures for IT company introduction discourses and Bhatia's move model for business promotional letters. The merits, especially the moves of Offering Incentives and Soliciting Response, which exist in Bhatia's move model for promotional letters but not in the move structure for IT company introductions, are used for reference for the latter. Based on all the above analysis, the move structure model of English introduction discourses for Chinese IT companies is proposed by the author.Eventually, four important findings are achieved. It is hoped that the study will provide IT industry and other similar industries with some new thoughts and angles when company introductions are composed. The author also hopes that the present study will be helpful for ESP teaching and shed light on further studies in this field.
