The Genre Analysis Of Research Article Introduction Written By Chinese Postgraduates

Recently, more attention to academic research has been paid greatly and information exchange has become more and more frequent. Academic papers, as the main media for academic research and exchange, have become a popular media for discourse genre. Therefore, the master of reading and writing skills of academic papers has become the needs of the people which require researchers to learn to how to analyze the macrostructure pattern of academic papers if they want to improve English academic paper writing, or let the reader seize the purpose of the paper more accurately.The introduction, as the first part of academic paper, is very important. Communicative purpose of academic paper is to introduce the thesis content and to explain the research value to readers. The readers can understand the research background and the subject by reading introduction and can get a preliminary understanding of the paper.The introduction is often considered the most difficult part of the paper to write, because the author must narrate the paper subject by using the standard methods and organization. At the same time, the author must mention much research information in the few words. Introduction mainly tells us current situation of genre and genre analysis research and the purpose, data collection, research methodology and significance of the present study. Then, the author points out the necessity and significance of the present study. The first chapter deals with a brief introduction of definition of genre and genre analysis, and related research into academic paper introduction currently. Then the author points out the limitation of the previous study and the problems needed to be solved. The second chapter introduces data collection, research methodology, and research design of the present study. The third chapter analyzes the sample introduction in detail, including the analysis of macro-structure and linguistic features. The fourth chapter summarizes the result findings, involving a holistic analysis of each move and step, linguistic characteristics. After the analysis, the author tries to provide some guidelines and suggestions on methods of introduction writing. The last part involves the conclusion of the whole study. In this part, the author stresses the necessity of further development in the study of research article introductions in order to make it more enlightening.
