Since the movement of August 5 Art, a large number of modern young artists affected by trends of personalization and politicization began extensive use of pure color to express the purity and the subjectivity of art works; while after the twenty-first century, more Chinese contemporary artists use of monochrome color painting delivering their feelings from and insights into visiual civilization of the media era. During the process of Chinese society blended into the global economic and cultrual context, these artists express their embarrased and internalized feels due to the collaps of sense of worth after their spiritual pursuit are oppressed, the controal and counter-control from materialism on individual spriritual and living methods in the Chinese social urbanization, the internal effects of image reources as collective experiences and memories on today's life, or the records of confusion, conflicts and worries induced from individualism of this era without subjects, ideals and idols. This essay takes this situation mentioned above as an opportunity to study the monochrome phenomenon and illustrate the currency of modern paintings.
