The way of Chinese painting's occurrence and development is also a process of constantly integration and assimilation. Chinese culture is extensive and profound, so it infuses rich provision for Chinese painting. In the ideology field, it's led by philosophy, Xuanxue (Dark Learning), literature, and calligraphy theory; in the technique creation, it's also interfered by writing brush, writing ink, and paint. The course of two thousand years' Chinese painting just likes a cultural history, which is faithfully description. In contrast to the other paintings, Chinese painting has its own vigorous style. It's outstanding, because it has forward theory instruction, unique art form, and strong cultural spirit. This thesis divides the development of painting into three stages, and each stage has its own focus. It clearly describes that the development path of Chinese painting and the development law of the"Pen and Ink". Finally, the thesis expands the survival and development environment which the contemporary"Pen and Ink"adapts to, thus continues to flourish the great art form into a further step.Firstly, based on the establishment and development of traditional elements of Pen and Ink, the original manifestation of Chinese Panting and various influenced factors on development and advancement of early stage of Chinese Painting were analyzed. As known, Tang and Song Dynasties is the most important period of the development of Chinese Painting. Therefore, in this part, with the aim of reappearing of painting style at that time, painting during Tang and Song Period was mainly organized and analyzed. Furthermore, with the detailed elaboration on painting theory of Song Dynasties, forming factors of Literati Painting and Literati Aesthetic View were finally revealed. Secondly, the stepping in of the aesthetics of literati made the framework of ink paintings developed continually and pluralistically, urged the happening of the gradual transit from recapitulative and exaggerative line-modeling to freehand brushwork of wash painting. Furthermore, the May Fourth New Culture Movement and the spread of Western Learning in China compelled the painters of Chinese ink paintings to carry out new explorations theoretically and practically. It is an inevitable trend to implant new concepts in and restructure the traditional ink paintings, which was being modernizing step by step under the guidance of various artistic ideas and practice.
