A Disscussion On The Generation Of The "Seventeen Years" (1949-1966) Narrative Poems

In the seventeen years dating from 1949 to 1966, there's been a creative climax on narrative poems. From the angle of literary production, this paper analyses the reasons of the literature phenomenon. For the center of writers and works, the entire research scope includes three aspects:narrative poems'form, content and author. "Seventeen-year" narrative poems which pursued national style in the form attempt to develop new poetry on the basis of folk songs and classical poems. Narrative poems by Li Ji, Ruan Zhangjing and Tian Jian etc represent this direction. In support of ideology, the form of folk songs obtain unprecedented, but that increasing works also brings a lot of problems. Seventeen years narrative poems in content is based on historical theme which include two ways of text production. One is collection arrangement eg. Ashima, another kind is writer's creation eg. the Revenge Fire. Through folk literature, ideology can be reproduced in order to support new imagine of national community for modern national country. In the aspects of writer subject, creative subject of Seventeen-year narrative poems include old poets after the May 4th Movement and new poets after Yenan forum on literature and art. The topic which poets directly face is "transformation" which includes the change of thought, artistic method, discourse system and so on. This transformation in most of the time is failure. So the backbone of Seventeen-year narrative poems is new poets. In the field of cultivating new poets, especially minority poets, country spent great strength, for example Bao Yutang, who is the typical delegate. However, tension between new poets and then ideology still exist. With Guo Xiaochuan for example, his dual role between soldier and poet leave ideology interspace in his text.
