Each individual is likely to experience loneliness at different age groups, for which exists wide. Such a lonely state can bring great damage to adolescents physically and mentally. Therefore based on the former research, this research conducts an investigation into the features of junior students' loneliness. On that basis this research also makes a deep exploration on how emotional intelligence and friendship quality make an impact on the student intrinsic mechanism, which is related to their loneliness.This research makes a survey among 603 students, one class as a unit, in 4 junior schools located in Chang-sha and Yong-zhou respectively, adopting Loneliness Scale, Emotional Intelligence scale, and Friendship Quality Questionnaire.The result of this research shows as follows:1. There are no significant differences between the sexes in loneliness in junior middle school students;2. There are significant differences between grades in loneliness in junior middle school students:the students of Grade 8 receive a lower score than the students of Grade 7 and the students of Grade 9. But there are no significant differences between the students of Grade 7 and the students of Grade 9 on the score of loneliness.3. Emotional intelligence is significantly negative relevant to loneliness on adolescents, indicating that the more emotional intelligence the less loneliness and the less emotional intelligence the more loneliness in junior middle school students.4. There is significantly negative correlation between loneliness and friendship quality in junior middle school students. Much more help, companionship, communication, confirm and trust can reduce loneliness. As a negative factor in friendship, conflict can also reduce loneliness if the conflict is moderate among friends.5. Emotional intelligence is significantly positive relevant to friendship quality, indicating that the more emotional intelligence the more friendship quality and the less emotional intelligence the less friendship quality in junior middle school students.6. Emotional intelligence has effect on loneliness directly, and takes indirect effect on loneliness by affecting friendship quality.
