Changde(常德)dialect belongs to the inferior dialect of North dialect——the district of Changli(常澧)of the southwest mandarin.In Changde dialect,"An"(俺)may appear alone as the first personal pronoun.It also as the auxiliary,appears at the end of the words,signing the plural number.The auxiliary"An" [·ηan] of Changde dialect is the fixed form that appears at the end of the personal pronoun,the noun,even the verb.It signs plural number.Its plural number significances include the real plural number,the kind of plural number,the gather of plural number.The"An"that appears at the end of the verb and expression of verb-object also includes event number and participant number."An"has the universal characteristic which appears at the end of the personal pronoun,the noun refering human,object,time,place even verb.This article take the auxiliary"An"of Changde dialect as the main object of study fristly.It carrys on the comprehensive inspection and deep description using the mixing method of form and meaning,plus the function grammar theory from several aspects including vecabulary,syntax,grammatical meaning, pramatic,and so on.It compares with"Men"(们)and the English plural number suffix"-s"which has the commeasurable standard.We attempt to inspect and study"An" from "mandarin—dialect—ancient—foregin", so that highlights typical characteristic of An"as the plural number.Finally we determine that "An" is the typical plural number mark from five aspects including the grammatical meaning,the structure function,the universal degree,the actuality of significance, the degree of the syntax function's universality.
