In the progress of second language's teaching, the proposing of errors analysis theory has greatly promoted the development of language teaching. Overgeneralization is one of the reason of errors in foreign language teaching, in the development of chinese teaching for foreigners, researchers have paid more attention to the influence of overgeneralization in language teaching. These require us to view overgeneralization as an important content of a study.Addition to the introduction and conclusion, the article consists of five chapters. In the introduce, the author describes the background of this subject, with the current situation of research and existing problems of overgeneralization found by domestic and foreign scholars. In chapter one,the author regards the relationship between analogy and overgeneralization as the core, reveals the advantages and disadvantages of analogy in language learning, by researching the effect of analogy in teaching and language teaching; in this chapter, the author highlights the characteristics and performance of overgeneralization. In chapter two,the author in order to identify the same point and the difference between the two easily confused concept-overgeneralization and negative transfer. In chapter three, the author describes the types of overgeneralization primarily, introducing the specific performance of overgeneralization in detail, by researching the phenomenon of overgeneralization in semantic,vocabulary,grammar,pragmatic of chinese and so on. In chapter four and five,the author has analysised the causes of overgeneralization and how to aviod the overgeneralization phenomena occuring, expect to give some feasible suggestion of the devolpment of future chinese teaching for foreigners. In the end, the author give seveal ideas of the directions of future chinese teaching for foreigners'research.
